Lightweight CRM

This template provides a comprehensive starting point for managing a variety of strategic relationships for your startup or small business, including but not limited to customers, distribution partners, investors, and PR firms.

How to Use

This template is structured into four main components, each represented by a table:

  • Companies
  • Contacts
  • Activities
  • Pipeline: ...

COMPANIES

A straightforward table where you can include any companies relevant to your business—it’s not limited to customers.

CONTACTS

Use this table to manage individual relationships. If you know which company a person is associated with, link the contact to an existing company or create a new one by clicking the + button in the Clients field.

ACTIVITIES

Track meetings, lunches, or any interactions with your contacts here. The Activity field will auto-populate based on the details of the interaction, and it will automatically pull the associated Company name from the Contact if available.

PIPELINE: ...

The Pipeline table tracks the status of key relationships (customers, investors, distribution partners). Customize this table to suit your business needs. For example:

  1. Modify the Stages if the default steps don’t align with your process.
  2. Edit or remove the Price / Seat field if it’s irrelevant to your business, or replace it with something more suitable.
  3. Add any new fields as needed

Setting Up a New Pipeline

This Lightweight CRM simplifies the process of creating new, custom Pipelines. With the core Contacts and Companies tables, you can set up a new pipeline quickly.

Steps

  1. Click the caret next to Pipeline: Sales.
  2. Select Duplicate table.
  3. Rename the table (e.g. Pipeline: Investors).
  4. Click the caret next to the Stage field in the new table.
  5. Modify the Stages to better fit the new pipeline.
  6. Add or delete any columns relevant to the new pipeline.

FAQ

1. How do I link a contact to a company?

In the Contacts table, find the Company (or Clients) field. Click the "+" sign inside the cell to select an existing company from the list, or type a new name to create a new company record instantly.

2. How do I record a meeting or call?

Use the Activities table. Add a new record for the interaction and link it to the relevant Contact. The system is designed to automatically pull the associated Company name from the contact record, saving you data entry time.

3. How do I customize the sales stages?

The Stage field in the Pipeline table is a "Single Select" field.

  1. Click the column header for Stage.
  2. Select "Edit field".
  3. You can rename, add, delete, or color-code the options to match your specific sales process.

4. Can I use this for Investors as well as Sales?

Yes. It is best to keep them in separate tables but share the same contacts.

  1. Click the arrow next to the Pipeline: Sales table tab.
  2. Select "Duplicate table".
  3. Rename the new table to "Pipeline: Investors" and update the Stage field to reflect your fundraising process.
